Make Your StoryWalk® or Story Trail Accessible.

What is StoryWalk®?

A StoryWalk® or Story Trail is an outdoor interpretive exhibit featuring a children's storybook that visitors can explore at their own pace. The story's pages are taken apart and displayed in reusable sign holders mounted on posts along a path or nature trail. These self-guided tours encourage human connection, can include activity prompts, and enable participants to pick up on subtle non-verbal cues, resulting in memorable shared experiences in nature.

Why Make it Accessible?

SensoryPEN® is specifically designed as an accessibility tool to help people with disabilities enjoy equal opportunities. Its primary purpose is to make physical sites and exhibits accessible to individuals with diverse needs without requiring screens, internet, or complex technology.

*Accessibility is required for self-guided tours under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Accessibility Goes Beyond Physical Limitations

How AD Helps

An auditory description can convey what 1,000 words cannot for individuals with visual or cognitive disabilities! AD offers a spoken narrative of the scene and characters, detailing their movements and actions, thus making the story accessible to those with such disabilities. The script can be recorded personally or created professionally, incorporating voiceover artists, background sounds, and diverse vocal tones.

Multilingual Expands Your Reach

Numerous families in the United States struggle with understanding or reading English. Offering stories in their native language creates a welcoming environment and encourages greater participation in story trail tours. Consider including the most commonly spoken second language in your city alongside dual-language story trails, allowing everyone to fully enjoy the experience.
